This mug has a lovely purple hue- a record of another item fires beside it which has ‘fumed’ colorant onto it. This is one of my favourite phenomenon in the soda kiln, where items collaborate with each other to create the final surface.
My bellied mugs have a unique shape that allows more room in the handle and makes it lovely to cradle. This one features a new design element for me- the striped handle!
This mug is fired in a Soda Kiln. In this kiln glaze is sprayed into the ports and deposited onto its surface by the flames. You can read more about soda firing here.
